Cathy Marroquin Riojas, 56, passed away Thursday May 5, 2016. Cathy was born Sept. 29, 1959 in El Campo, to the late Abel and Consuelo Rodriquez Marroquin. Cathy was a phlebotomist at Citizens Medical Center for 21 years. Cathy and Fred Riojas were married in Ganado on Oct. 28,1978. Cathy's survivors include her husband Fred Riojas; son, Brandon Riojas; daughters, Melani and husband Rudy Arriaga, Cassandra and fiance Marc Hernandez; sisters, Velia Juarez, Elia (Marvella) Benavides, Briceire (Chopper) Riojas; brothers, Jaime Marroquin, Armando Marroquin, and Joe Marroquin; and seven grandchildren. Cathy is preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Araceli ( Sally) Mireles. Visitation was Sunday, May 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ganado Funeral Home Chapel. Regina Laverne Brooks, of Edna, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the age of 54. She was born in Ganado, on Sept. 20, 1961, to the late LV Brooks and Ruth Delores Barnes Brooks. Regina is survived by her brothers, Jonathan W. Brooks, Gregory L. Brooks of Utopia, and Leonard V. Brooks of Wylie. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Regina graduated from Edna High School and attended Wharton County Junior College. She was a member of Gideon Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Regina is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Vivian Rawlins
Vivian Walker Rawlins, a long time resident of Goliad, was reunited with the love of her life, Guy Robert Rawlins, Jr. on Monday, May 9, 2016. They had been apart just a few days shy of 25 years and after living so many years as a widow, Vivian was peacefully called home. Born in Edna to Ivy Vivian Yearwood and Avery Duke Walker, Vivian loved her family and her faith. A cheerleader and graduate of Edna High School, she loved to reminisce about her childhood, climbing trees and fences and watching the ice being delivered in large blocks. She loved to tells stories about her large family – the Yearwoods and the Walkers – and looked forward to the annual family reunions and summer trips to Camp Bean to float down the Guadalupe River. She loved to remember her first date with Guy which always made her remember hearing about her daddy seeing her momma for the very first time at a country dance. She loved holding her babies, grandbabies and great-grandbabies and her heart ached as she became too weak to carry them any more. She is survived by her brother, A.D. Walker and his wife, Patricia; her daughter, Dorothy Dawn Cosper-Carter; her sons, Guy Robert Rawlins III and Duane Rawlins; eight grandchildren, Renee, Chance, Laura, Rhonda, Chris, Robert, Liz and Elizabeth; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and many close cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Focean LaRue Psencik, 66 formerly of Edna, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. He was born on Oct. 31, 1949 in Victoria, to Louis and Elnora Hattenbach Psencik. Julia Ann Peters, 96 of Ganado passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016. She was born on Oct. 5, 1920 in Hochheim to Clem and Agnes Jurena Vinklarek. She is survived by her daughters; Marie (Frank) Matlock and Susan (Michael) Gabrysch; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and her brother Cyril Vinklarek. Rose Marie Koop
Rose Marie Koop, 87, of Beaumont, died Monday, May 16, 2016, at Christus Hospital – St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on June 25, 1928, in Maxwell, Texas, to Hettie Louise Hoffman Wiede and William Henry Wiede. Rose worked as a bank teller for many years in Edna. She married her childhood sweetheart, Bill, in 1946, in Koop Settlement, Edna. They resided in Edna until their retirement to Beaumont in 1999. Rose’s passion in life was serving her Lord through music, playing the organ in her church from age 10 until this past Sunday’s church service at Collier Park Assisted Living in Beaumont. She is survived by her sons, Daniel William Koop and his wife Carolyn, of Inez; Mitchell Marvin Koop and his wife Susie, of Beaumont; daughter, Kathleen (Koop) Cash and her husband Claude, of Bryan; sisters-in-law,, Emily (Koop) Chase and Lillian (Koop) Wiede, of Edna; grandchildren, Lisa (Koop) Omecinski and her husband Jimmy, of Inez; Gina Bludau and her husband Chris, of Victoria; Daniel William Koop, Jr., of Victoria; Ashley (Koop) Fillips and her husband Drew, of Beaumont; Brian Krukiel and his wife Allison, of Keller; Haley Koop, of Austin; Blake Krukiel, of Beaumont; Keylee (Koop) Sudduth and her husband Micah, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Heath Koop, of Austin; and 11 great-grandchildren. Fannie Lee Kneblick, of Edna, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the age of 93. She was born Feb. 25, 1923, in Lavaca County, to the late Tom Chivers and Martha E. Einkauf Chivers. Fannie was a homemaker, she loved the outdoors and taking care of her animals, hunting, fishing. She also spent time sewing, crocheting, quilting and with great talent, and most of all she loved her Phillip, family and her Peanut. Nina Marjorie Wilson, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday May 21, 2016. Nina was born Sept. 12, 1922 in Goodwell, Okla. to the Nathaniel Merritt and Beulah Virginia White Wilson. In her early years Nina was a certified aircraft sheet metal worker and later became a loving home maker, baby sitter, Avon lady, a loving wife and mother. Nina is survived by her daughters; Zelda Kay (James) Hurt, Brenda Jo (Joe) Maresh, Nancy Carol ( Gary) Banning, and a son, Steven Eugene (Juanita )Wilson. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild. Nina is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Thelma Vanderhoofven and Zelda P. Bintliff; brothers, Howard W. Singleton and Leon Singleton; and a great-grandson Cody Hahn. Ronald Clinkscales

devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend went to be with our Heavenly Father on May 22, 2016. Ronald was born in Hillsboro, Texas as one of a set of fraternal twins, to D.O. (Dude) and Tommie Clinkscales, on Jan. 24, 1934. He was reared in the community of Midway where his family owned and operated a small grocery store and service station. Ronald graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1948 and went on to play baseball in college. Ronald worked for Shell Oil Company until he opened and operated Palmetto Realty Company in 1963. He loved the real estate business and touched many lives during his 53 years in the business. He enjoyed the real estate business so much that he would often comment that “since he started Palmetto Realty he hasn’t worked a day in his life”. Ron never met a stranger and cared deeply for people. He married Jan Mozisek Clinkscales on March 28, 1980. Ron and Jan celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary this year. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Edna, actively serving in many capacities. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, past member of the Edna Lions Club, Edna Rotary Club and served on the Bluebonnet Youth Ranch board. He currently served as a director on the boards of both Jackson County Federal Credit Union and the United Way. His favorite pasttimes included hunting, golfing and traveling to Colorado. He loved the San Juan Mountains and spent many hours in Silverton, Colo. with his family. The children always joked that the family spent so much time in Silverton they went to selling rocks on the curb like the “locals”. He loved to cook breakfast for the family and enjoyed watching the grandchildren in their activities. Loyal and dedicated to his family and friends, he treasured the time they spent together. Ron will be remembered by his strong faith, his simple life style and his generosity towards others. His kind spirit, sense of humor, and friendship will not be forgotten. Ronald is survived by his wife Jan Clinkscales; sons, Randy Clinkscales and wife Barbara, Dusty Clinkscales, and Shawn Clinkscales; daughters, Rhonda Clinkscales Klima and husband Dennis, Candy Clinkscales, and Shay Lea Clinkscales Strain and husband Kevin; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother Doug Clinkscales and wife Shirley; brothers-in-law, Edwin White, Otto Mozisek and wife Linda, Tommy Mozisek and wife Alannah, Dennis Mozisek and wife Ann; sisters-in-law Cathy Brzozowski and husband Andy, Peggy Frederick and husband Ricky; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and twin sister Reta. Lee Daniel Hamons
Heaven's gates were opened for Lee Daniel Hamons, 92 on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. He was born on Feb. 9, 1924 in Ganado to Daniel and Mary Zetka Hamons of Ganado. Lee graduated from Ganado High School and was a retired contract gauger. He served his country in WWII as a member of the 8th Air Force. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and time spent with his family. He liked to make people laugh by saying he was "Joe Palooka", a popular cartoon character of the 30's. Lee took pride in his dedication to various organizations in his community. He served on the Louise School Board for over two decades, was a member of the Louise/Hillje Chamber of Commerce where he received the Citizen of the Year Award in 1969, held offices in Louise Lions Club, was a member of the American Legion for 69 years, VFW, and also a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Ganado. Lee is survived by his wife Virginia Hall Hamons, daughters Linda Hamons, Gail Hamons, (Archie), Sandra (Howard) Green all of Ganado, Jennifer Drozd, Karen (Sheldon) Holub both of El Campo, Susan Crump of Victoria, and Gayle (Eddie) Labay and LuAnne Supak both of Louise and one son, Lee (Barbara) Hamons, Jr. of Arp. Also 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, also his beloved pet, "Shasta". He was preceded in death by wife Laura Wied Noska, sister Georgia Dryman, brother Eugene Hamons, Aunt Sophie Zetka, sons Jody and Michael Drozd, and grandson Michael Hamons. Pallbearers are grandsons, Clint and Chad Green, Jeff Stehno, Russell Melton, Dustin Machicek, and Craig Yackel. Billie Marie Wiggins Clement, 88, of La Ward, formerly of Sour Lake, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Port Lavaca Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Billie was born Dec. 2,1927 to Claude Edward and Addie Mae Kelley in Blox, Texas. She was the leader of her ladies auxilary club at her church. She was a life long resident of Texas, and was a member of the La Ward United Pentecostal Church. Billie is preceded in death by her husband, Otis Clement; her parents, Claude Edward and Addie Mae Kelley; brothers, Joe Edward Kelley, Jim Kelley and sister, Pat Pharis. Frances Stancik
Frances Helen Klump Stancik journeyed to her heavenly garden on June 1, 2016. She was born on March 16, 1927 to Herbert G. Klump and Lillie Roski Klump in Shelby, Austin County, Texas. She married Alvin Stancik on March 22, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Warrenton. Frances was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her family was her pride and joy. She was an Avon Lady, a store clerk, and in 1975 obtained her insurance license and took over the family insurance agency due to her husband's disability. She was appointed JP Precinct 2 Jackson County by Commissioner's Court to complete her husband's term in 1975, where she served this elected position until her retirement in 1991. Frances was an excellent seamstress, an avid quilter, and loved gardening. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, WELCA, Deborah Circle of St. James Lutheran Church and a 50+ year member of American Legion Auxilary Unit 346. She participated in the Heritage Craft Quilters group and the Lutheran Church Quilters' Group. Frances is survived by daughter Sharon (Robert) Poarch; her sons Wayne (Delores) Stancik, Elliott (Kathy) Stancik, Kevin (Renee) Stancik and Darren (Donna) Stancik, also 18 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren. Frances is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, her three sisters and five brothers. Visitation will be Sunday, June 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ganado Funeral Home Chapel. Deborah Callis, 67, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, June 3, 2016. Deborah was born in Edna, May 18, 1949, to the late John O. and Porgie Bryant. She attended both George Washington Carver and Edna High Schools and was a lifelong member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She graduated from Huston-Tillotson College in Austin. She was a retired educator teaching in both Victoria and Edna Independent School Districts where she touched the lives of countless children with her stern but loving teaching style. She had a special place in her heart for all children. She was married to Toney Callis and was the mother of four adult children whom she loved dearly. Deborah loved all of her family members and had a sweet and beautiful disposition and a fighting spirit. She refused to give up in spite of the hardships and setbacks she may have faced. When asked how she was doing she would always respond with, “Oh, I’m perking”. She will be missed. Joyce L. Hunt, 88, of Pettus, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016. Mrs. Hunt was born June 15, 1927, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Coleman and Florence Springer. She married George Hunt on Nov. 28, 1974, in Tuleta. She was a member of the Tuleta First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, James Bassett; and stepdaughter, Colleen Hunt. Survivors include her husband, George Hunt of Pettus; sons, Charles Bassett of Plano, Aaron Howell of George West and Robin Howell of San Antonio; stepchildren, Roy Hunt of Tampa, Florida, Jeff Hunt of Louise and Mary Nixon of Karnes City. Visitation was held June 16 at Eckols Funeral Home Chapel in Kenedy. The funeral service was June 17 at Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Kenedy Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Eckols Funeral Home, Kenedy.
William B. Keith
William B. Keith, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 in his sleep at the age of 86. He was born in Goose Creek, Texas on Sept. 22, 1929, to the late Martin Looper Keith and Annie Elizabeth Key Keith. William lived his childhood in Edna, where he graduated at the age of 16 from Edna High School. William is survived by his sons, William Jonathan Keith and Jefferson Randolph Keith; He is also survived by his ex-wife Janice. Bill Keith served in the Navy from 16, June 1947 to 26, Sept. 1951. After the Navy, he worked for several companies until he started working for the telephone company on Feb. 12, 1953. He retired from the telephone company on Dec. 31, 1986. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Josie Mae Keith and Lillian Bass; his brother, John Henry Keith. Graveside services were held June 1 in the Memory Gardens Cemetery of Edna. Minnie Hessong
Minnie Martha Ganske Hessong, 95, of Edna passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. Minnie was born on Oct. 27, 1920 in Southland, Texas, Garza County to William D. and Martha Hein Ganske. Minnie was married to Louis Hessong, and was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker to their three daughters. Minnie is survived by their daughters, Betty (Dennis) Jerkins, Ella Mae Anderson, and Martha (Darrell) Kudelka; also by their six grandchildren; Archey (Tracey) Anderson, Tammy (Jamie) Ricks, Kimberly (Paul) Vasquez, Nicki (Nick) Gregg, Gina (Kurt) Yackel, and Richard (Shannon) Jerkins; 15 great-grandchildren, Cody and Kayla Anderson, Erica Ricks, Megan Vasquez, Evan and Brittany Gregg, Jada Yaws, Liam, Zeke, Zane, Abigail, and Sean Jerkins, Warren, Meachelle and Kyler Yackel; and two great-great-grandchildren, Riley and Lylah Yackel; as well and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louis; sisters Lydia Hubel and Mary Smith; brothers Walter, John, Bill, Ed and Alfred Ganske; and one granddaughter, Shelly Kudelka. Visitation will be Thursday, June 23 at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be Friday, June 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Green officiating. Naomi Jackson
Naomi Elizabeth Wiegand Jackson, 86, of Edna, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016. She was born Aug. 21, 1929 in Edna to the late Theodore " Ted" Weaver and Willie Ann Cleveland Wiegand. She married Stonewall Jackson on July 6, 1947. She and her late husband were owners of the OK Mattress & Manufacturing Co. in Edna and the Jackson Bee Farm. For many years she sewed handbags and delivered them to customers. She was a member of the Robinson Street church of Christ in Edna. Naomi is survived by her daughters, Kathy Jackson of Bay City, Georgia Jackson Nickel of Edna, Glenda Jackson Johnson and husband Philip of Houston, Carolyn Jackson Bartos and husband Darrell of Bay City; sons David Jackson and wife Debra of League City and Calvin “Buster” Jackson of Bay City; sister, Anna Lois Dunham of Houston, and brother-in-laws Charlie Jackson of El Campo and Edward Jackson of Booneville, Ark.; grandchildren Sandy Bell, Sindy Nickel, Monica Jackson Babaian, Kurt Jackson, Dylan Jackson, Chris Lindsey, Kelsey Bartos and fiancee Cody, Kelli Bartos, Chris Jackson and wife Kelsey, and Heather Jackson; great-grandchildren D.J. Bell and wife Megan, Andy Bell and fiance Meagan, Callie Bell, Emma Babaian, Joey Babaian, Lily Jackson, Marshall Jackson, Sera Jackson, Paxtyn Lindsey, Hannah Broadway, Conor Broadway and Landon Nathaniel; and great-great-granddaughter Macyn Remi Bell. Naomi is preceded in death by her husband; granddaughters Nicole Bartos and Tonya Lindsey; daughter-in-law Pam Jackson; son-in-law Frank Nickel; and grandson-in-law David Bell. Pallbearers were D.J. Bell, Andy Bell, Kurt Jackson, Chris Lindsey, Chris Jackson, and Charles John Swain. Honorary pallbearers were Cody Witzkoski, Inocente Salazar, Joesph Bababian, and Dylan Jackson. Visitation was Wednesday, June 22 from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Slavik Funeral Home Chapel in Edna. Services will be Thursday June 23, at 10:30 a.m., at the Slavik Funeral Home Chapel, Edna with Mr. Steven Wilson officiating. Interment will be at Memory Gardens of Edna Cemetery.
